Frequently Asked Questions
Will gifts made before April 16th count toward KCTCS Giving Day?
Yes! Gifts can be made in advance of Giving Day and will be counted towards match and challenge opportunities.
Is there a minimum donation?
You can make a gift of $5 or more to participate in KCTCS Giving Day.
Can I give to more than one college’s foundation?
Yes, you can support as many college foundations as you choose but will need to complete each transaction separately. This ensures that you have access to the full range of designation options available for each institution.
I don't see my preferred gift designation. What should I do?
You can select the Other – Fund Not Listed designation option for the college you wish to support and then you will be prompted to enter a description of the fund you want to support. If you have trouble entering your preferred designation, contact us at KCTCSgiving@kctcs.edu.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. Philanthropic contributions to the nonprofit 501c3 foundations serving KCTCS colleges are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Consult your tax professional for questions about the deductibility of your gift.
In addition to the confirmation email you will receive when making your gift, the foundation accepting the donation on behalf of your college will be in touch with a receipt letter for tax purposes. Please ensure your contact information is correct so we can mail this letter to your attention. Due to the volume of gifts received on Giving Day, please allow 2-3 weeks for letters to arrive.
Can I make a donation offline?
Yes! Gifts can also be made via check and will be counted toward Giving Day totals. Checks can be made out to the college foundation of your choice and mailed to the corresponding address below. Include Giving Day in the memo line of your check along with any other restriction or designation information.
We can also accept other types of gifts, such as recommendations from Donor Advised Funds, Qualified Charitable Distributions from IRAs, and appreciated securities. Please reference the college foundation’s Tax ID number when making these distributions or contact us at KCTCSgiving@kctcs.edu for assistance.
Will my employer match my donation?
Many employers offer matching gift programs, so the impact of your gift to may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. Visit our Double the Donation page to see if your employer will match your contribution to any of the 501c3 foundations serving KCTCS colleges.
What match and challenge gifts are available?
Each college's campaign page will show a list of matching and challenge gifts available to their institution. You can see progress toward these challenges in the leaderboards on their campaign pages, or on our Leaderboards page. In addition to the college-specific matches, the KCTCS Foundation has offered these challenges: $1,000 in scholarships to the college with the most alumni/student participation $1,000 in scholarships to the college with the highest amount donated $1,000 in scholarships to the college with the highest number of gifts $1,000 in student emergency funds to the college with the highest number of emergency fund gifts
